Bathroom Remodeling in Charlotte, NC

Your bathroom might be small, but the right changes to it can have a major impact.

"We engaged with Watershed Builders to do a complete renovation of our first floor. We are delighted with the results — it exceeded our expectations. Our project manager, Marc, was on top of every detail, communicated effectively and managed the project efficiently. Their online platform with daily updates is outstanding."

Why It’s the Perfect Time to Remodel Your Bathroom

You start the day with a morning bathroom break and bookend the evenings with a final trip before bed. Arguably, bathrooms are one of the areas you spend the most of your time in, and you deserve to have one that feels nothing like a cramped stall at the local gym.

If you spend precious time in the morning fighting over sink space while brushing your teeth, and bathing your little ones feels like an aerobic workout because you have a toilet jamming into your ribs, it’s probably time for an upgrade.

A well-designed primary bath can be a real retreat. It’s somewhere you can actually unwind, not just scramble around to get ready in. It’s also one of the most intimate spaces in your home, and we work with every client to build one that reflects their personal touch.

Practical Reasons for Remodeling Your Bathrooms

We know that bathroom remodels can be a big commitment, considering the way it impacts the whole household’s routine. Yet, there are logistical reasons behind starting a bathroom remodel sooner rather than later.

Construction Gets Tucked Away in One Spot

A bathroom remodel packs nearly the same number of trades as a kitchen into a smaller area of your home, making working around the construction easier than with other area-based remodeling projects.

You Can Build It Around New Family Members

Your three-quarter bath isn’t suited for moving in with your partner or bringing home a new bundle of joy. We will work with you to create a bathroom that makes sharing a sure thing.

You Can Add Features You’ve Always Wanted

Stock bathrooms don’t come with foot niches in the shower wall and added windows for extra light, but our custom-built bathrooms do. We add the features you’ve always dreamed of having.

You Can Bundle It Into a Larger Project

A great aspect of bathroom remodels is that we typically fold them into larger projects, such as first-floor or whole-home remodels, to suit your schedule and budget.

The Commitments We Build By

You take pride in your home. We take pride in the work we do to make it feel like one, and these are the commitments that guide us.

We’re Your Neighbors, & We Treat You Like One

At Watershed Builders, we live where we work, and we’re proud to serve the communities we’re a part of. From the first phone call to the last check-in, we’re treating you with the same kindness and respect that we treat our neighbors with. That includes giving you a fixed-price we won’t go back on weeks down the road.

We Take Care of Your Home Like It’s Our Own

Your home is a haven, and it takes a lot of trust to leave it in someone else’s hands. We understand that, and strive to treat your home like it’s our own. Whether it’s organizing a temporary kitchen so you can stay put while we renovate or making sure active construction zones are safe for your kids, our team ensures your house feels like a home the whole way through.

We’re On the Same Team & You’re On It, Too

Watershed builds don’t have the haphazard collection of trades and designers with overlapping schedules and poor communication you hear stories about. Every build has its own team, and one that you’re a part of, too. You get all of the updates the rest of us get, and are included in every decision that gets made.

What to Expect When Working With Watershed

Life is full of complications, so we’ve kept our process simple and straightforward.

Step 01

An Initial Call

Collaboration starts with conversation, and the initial call is what kicks everything off. We’ll ask you about where you live, your ideas and concerns, and your timeline. If your project feels like a perfect fit, we’ll schedule an in-home consult.

Step 02

An In-Home Consult

This is when we start getting specific about what you’re looking for and how Watershed can make it happen. We’ll walk through your home with you, assess how your spaces currently work, and where we can make improvements. As the plan takes shape, we’ll start to discuss the budget so you know if Watershed fits within your range and make a referral to a trusted designer to start schematic drawings.

Step 03

A Pre-Construction Phase

Once we move into the Pre-Construction Phase, we’ll start communicating the details of the plan we’ve solidified: real costs, code requirements, on-site conditions, and so on. You’ll get a fixed-price proposal that won’t change throughout the project, save for any updates you make to our agreement and major unforeseen complications, like structural concerns.

We charge 1% of the preliminary budget as earnest money in this phase, but every penny gets applied to building costs.

Step 04

A Meeting to Sign the Construction Agreement

If you’re as excited about working with us as we are with you, we’ll present you with the final proposal. Your signature gets us started.

Once we have the green light, we’ll submit the necessary permit applications and assign you a Project Manager to kick things off.

Investment:

$70,000 - $105,000+

Timeline:

8 - 12+ Weeks

Existing Footprint

Our primary bathroom remodels average about $87,500, with basic finishes in the existing footprint (including new tile, vanity, fixtures, and shower-and-tub configuration), starting around $70,000.

Layout & Fixture Upgrades

That scale moves up to the $95,000 range when we change the existing layout and add high-end fixtures like custom tile, a walk-in shower, a double vanity, or a freestanding tub.

Premium Finishes

The top end starts around $105,000 and includes premium finishes and fixtures, such as a curbless shower, heated floors, custom cabinetry, and structural changes.

Common Bathroom Remodel Customizations Our Clients Ask For

From extra vanity lighting to double the counter space, everyone needs their bathroom to perform a little differently. We strive to execute the perfect combination of features to make your bath as personal as possible.

Custom Shower Niches
Recessed shower niches built into the wall, whether for resting a foot while shaving or storing a body wash collection, are a small detail many miss on paper but make a huge difference from day to day.

Double Vanities
One of your neighbors’ most requested layout changes is splitting one vanity into two full stations, with separate sinks, mirrors, and cabinets.

Curbless Showers
A curbless shower removes the threshold between the shower and the bathroom floor, making it more accessible and visually pleasing.

Moved/Additional Windows
You can’t beat natural light, and we frequently add and move existing windows in our bathroom remodels to capture it.

Structural Changes
Moving a shower or removing a bathtub often requires some structural changes, and we plan for those in your contract.

Heated Floors
The little comforts make all the difference, like keeping your toes toasty on cold mornings with heated bathroom floors.

Freestanding Tubs
If your bathroom lacks a centerpiece, a freestanding tub to soak in is one upgrade option worth investigating.

Privacy Details
Custom doors, like textured or wavy glass, add a stylish touch to the privacy you want protected.

What Your Neighbors Think About Working With Us

We’re proud to share a community with our clients and watch them settle into their new spaces. But don’t take our word for it. Here are your neighbors’ experiences in their own words.

Common Questions Your Neighbors Ask Us About Bathroom Remodeling

You have questions about working with us, and your neighbors have some of the answers. For the things they don’t know, we can fill in the rest.

Do you do standalone bathroom remodels?

Our best bathroom work happens as part of a larger remodel, like a whole-home or first-floor project, where the plumbing, electrical, and design decisions are already being coordinated. If you’re looking for a bathroom done in isolation, a smaller specialist will likely serve that scope faster and for less than we would.

A primary bathroom with quality finishes starts around $70,000, with costs rising from there based on finish level and how much you want to change the layout.

No, you don’t need your own designer to work with us. While many architects and designers have brought projects to us, we also partner with local professionals when you’re starting from scratch.

At Watershed, we plan construction around your comfort whenever possible. If a project takes your bathrooms out of commission for a stretch of the build, we can set up a portable bathroom outside your home so you always have access to one.
